Drain #1---OUT!

Sorry, so late! Ron didn't go down to radiology until 2:30 and arrived back to his room about 7:45. Evidently his blood pressure was running pretty low after the procedure, so they sent him to recovery for a while instead of directly to his room and gave him some Albumin (he thinks). We waited all evening to talk to Dr. Parikh but he never made it up to Ron's room. So, I don't know much, except that he had one of the drain tubes removed ...YEAH!!!!!!! (For those in the know aka any nurses or docs reading this...it was drain #1). And they replaced all the others; since the others had been in for almost a month. They tend to get clogged easily when they've been in a while. I think the next step is if Infectious Disease Doc is pleased with results from todays scan (actually it was a fistula-gram); then she'll start decreasing the amounts and types of antibiotics. Which also means we need to be extra careful about bringing in germs.

Not much else to report other than OT today. They worked on his exercises and walked him a short distance in the hall. OT also spent a while talking with us about adaptations we need to make at home. Everyone's impressed with how well he's doing...and of course we're happy to hear that!

Dr. Shires has confided that he thinks Ron will be able to go straight home from Presby! We've been told all along he would need to go to an acute care/rehab facility after leaving the hospital but now he's saying home!!! No timeline to that as yet, and we're trying not to get our hopes up because he still might have to go somewhere else first but....it's hard not to get too excited about the prospect! It is a little scary as well.

That means, we really need to get busy on making and implementing plans at home! Over the next couple of days we'll get online and start looking at flooring, etc. Heck of a way to get some remodelling done, isn't it?!

I should have more info to report tomorrow! Good night!
