Everybody Poops!

Another good day at Presby! PT came in this morning and got Ron up in a chair. He was able to sit in it for about an hour! His nurses got him up late this afternoon and he was able to make it an hour again! It's very difficult and they had to do the majority of the work, but he made it!!! WOO HOO!!! Praise God for those pain lollipops!!!

Most of his numbers look good: liver, kidney, white blood count, no fever, etc. But, they've taken him off the diuretic because he's putting out too much fluid which was causing his blood pressure to drop. It's always about chasing fluids!

And, big news; he pooped!!! And there was no indication of bleeding, which is great! Dr. Shires was so excited he finally pooped, that when he was up making rounds on 6 West he was telling all the nurses! Karen was so impressed, she came right down to congratulate him! Sorry if that's a little more than some of you wanted to know, but when you've had your intestines in two sections for 5 1/2 months, it's a huge deal!!!!

Two big items to pray for (both happening tomorrow):
wound vac change (very painful!)
they are going to clamp off his gastric tube for short periods of time to see how things go with everything draining naturally into his digestive system; first step in getting ready to introduce food

Thanks so much for your prayers!
